Working with Videos

Of course you can't actually play a video in a printed photo product (photobook or card), but, using the tool, you can insert certain frames from your video. In addition, a QR can be placed alongside the frames and the video is then uploaded into the gallery when ordering. The QR code in the final CEWE PHOTOBOOK then links to the video in the gallery. Using a smartphone or tablet with an app for scanning and reading the QR code, the video can then be played on the smartphone.

Inserting Videos

Caution!

Make sure that your video clip is no longer than 5 minutes. You can shorten longer clips using video editing software, or you can edit multiple clips together to create one 5 minute (or less) video. You can insert almost any video into your photobook. Just remember that each individual clip must not be longer than 5 minutes in length.

Using the directory browser, open the location of your video. You will recognise the video file because it appears as a "movie frame" in the thumbnail view.

Note:

Depending on the manufacturer and settings, cameras and video editing programs produce video clips in different formats for videos and audio tracks. Generally: Any video that appears in the thumbnails can be used. If your video is not displayed in the thumbnail view, then please notify our support team. Details of how to contact them can be found under “Settings”, “About”.

Some formats may not be supported but we are continually working to fix any issues and improve the service.

Select the thumbnail of the video in the selection area that you want and drag it with the left mouse button into the workspace. A video image will appear on the workspace along with the QR code to the video clip. Both can be positioned wherever you want them and you can also delete them if you wish. If you double click on the video image a dialogue box will open for editing the video. Alternatively, you can select and display up to 6 frames (individual images). Set the number of frames you wish to use. Position the film strip and the QR code on the page as desired. The images will appear in the upper strip preview.

Caution!

If there is no QR code, a video will not be uploaded when the order is placed.

The entire video clip in frames is shown in the lower storyboard. The blue boxed frame is displayed in each case in a larger thumbnail. Using the scroll bar or the buttons on the right and left of the larger thumbnail, you can go back and forth in the video clip and look for a specific frame. When you find a frame that you like, drag it to the top preview. If you want more than one frame, select another and drag it up to the film strip preview. If you like the film strip, close the dialogue by clicking " OK". Position the film strip and the QR code exactly where you need it in on the page.

Caution!

Videos usually have a lower resolution than digital photos. Pay attention, therefore, to the quality display as to whether the size of the frames are suitable for production. You can reduce the film strips, if necessary.

Note:

You can remove the QR code from your photobook page in Editor at a later stage. Please note that doing so will mean that the video will not be uploaded as part of the order. If you wish, you can delete the film strip and leave the QR code. The video is still uploaded and you can select the QR code in the completed PHOTOBOOK and play the video.
